The idea for this project came from a quiet anxiety I felt every time my mother stepped into a cab. I’d check in constantly, hoping
she got home safe, and wishing there was something better than just convenience. Something that offered peace of mind.
It sparked a simple idea:
What if trust didn’t need explaining,
just thoughtful design?
Trust Begins with Identity
One of the biggest challenges was verifying users' identities in a way that prioritized women’s safety, not just confirming if someone was real, but knowing who they were and their gender, without making it feel intrusive or complicated.
To solve this, I added a two-step verification at sign-up: a live selfie and a valid government ID. This simple process builds trust, deters impersonation, and sets a strong foundation for a safety-first ride-sharing experience.
Silent Reassurance for the People who Care About You
One of the most important design decisions was bridging the gap between safety and social reassurance. In real life, just knowing someone you trust is aware of your location can be a powerful deterrent to unsafe behavior.
I designed a required ‘trusted contacts’ step during onboarding. Every time a ride starts, real-time alerts with location and vehicle details are sent to those contacts. It’s passive, non-intrusive and always on.
Clarity Before You Confirm
The app includes a gender preference feature that prioritizes women-only or same-gender co-passenger options whenever possible, while still adapting to real-world availability.
Scheduling a Ride
Transitions so fluid, they feel less like motion and more like instinct.
The Gender Comfort Check
Each ride card highlights a live passenger gender breakdown, giving users a clear view of who they'll be sharing the ride with, helping them make informed, comfortable choices before they even step in.
Most importantly, every driver and co-passenger shown has completed identity verification, including a live selfie and government ID. This builds trust and accountability, so users never have to wonder, "Who am I sharing this ride with?"
Confirm Your Ride
Takeaway
This project pushed me to design with a different kind of precision, not just for usability, but for emotional clarity. Safety isn’t loud. It’s in the quiet confidence of knowing the app’s got your back. I had to make complex systems feel simple, and every decision feel human.
