Where It All Began

Where It All Began

In group jam sessions, I often held back,

not from fear, but because I didn’t know the lyrics.

That small disconnect made me feel like an outsider

in moments meant for connection.

It sparked a simple idea:

What if everyone could stay in sync,

without missing a beat?

Challenge

There were surprisingly few, if any existing apps that allowed users to easily input and switch between multiple sets of lyrics in a collaborative environment. This created an early design barrier.

Feature Home

Designed a clean, music-first interface with clear hierarchy and smooth session flow. Integrated soft oval-shaped animations to create an inviting, dynamic feel while keeping actions fast and intuitive.

Creating a Session

Built a smooth session creation flow using a card-style layout with a black background and crisp white borders. Users can easily add friends and songs in a few taps. The high contrast design ensures accessibility and visibility in every condition of the day.

Add Songs

Enabled users to add songs seamlessly within the jamming session. Future iterations will integrate with Spotify playlists for a more personalized music experience.

Lyric Selection

I designed a lyric selection interface that lets user pick specific lines, creating a personalized lyrical flow that matches the mood of their session.

Groove Sync

The BPM Selector Screen introduces a subtle yet impactful feature by letting users define the session’s tempo upfront. Whether it’s a relaxed acoustic jam or a precision-driven studio session, this ensures all participants stay rhythmically aligned.

Final Jam

This screen showcases the handpicked lyrics from each song, selected collaboratively earlier in the flow. It’s more than a summary, it’s a setlist, a shared intent, and a collective expression of what the group wants to sing and feel together.

Takeaway

This project reminded me that the most powerful experiences often feel effortless. Every interaction was crafted to be so smooth and intuitive that it felt like second nature as if the interface moved with you. It was a study in simplicity, not stripping things down, but shaping them just enough to feel invisible in the best way.
